After three months of anticipation, Northern California was fortunate to have been given a treat from rising country music star, Summer Schappell, last Saturday at Redding’s Historic Cascade Theatre.

Schappell was joined on stage with the Nashville Summer Lights Band led by session leader, Buddy Hyatt (keyboards). Rounding out the band was Jim Hyatt (Bass), Kelly Back (Guitar), Wayne Killius (Drums), Danny Parks (Acoustic) and Pat Severs (Steel) as well as Tammy Pierce doing back-up vocals. This was a special cast as three of the band members were a part of putting together here album (the Hyatt brothers and Kelly Back) as well as Tammy Pierce.

Summer kicked the night off with “Like a Rockstar” to an electric crowd who rose to their feet as she came flying out on stage as the band ripped into ‘Rockstar. With her 6 back-up dancers struttin’ to the hip tune, the crowd got a good taste of what they were in for as she worked the stage effortlessly in her gorgeous bright orange Jovani dress and bronze looking Lucchese boots.

Schappell performed every song off her self titled Limited Edition Signature Album plus 5 new songs. She even played “Rockstar twice. Midway through the set Summer went for an oufit change and wowed the crowd when she returned wearing black patton Lucchese boots and a black Jovani dress with bright colors throughout. As she came back to the stage the crowd gave their second standing ovation to the up and coming country music star. She continued to impress the audience the rest of the set with music sweet to the ear and a little pop to it and a presence that makes you want to like her. She is seasoned well beyond her years. This was her very first show with a band behind her and you would have thought they had been playing together for years.

To close out the show, she performed “Roll Down the Windows” and then came out for an encore with “You Put the Wings on my Dreams” and “Like a Rockstar” this time without her dancers. The crowd was on their feet and dancing down by the stage at the end of ‘Rockstar. After finishing the crowd rose for their third standing ovation with fans yelling and screaming just like at all the big name stars.

Following the show, Summer signed autographs for about an hour and a half to a line that went all the way out the lobby, to the street and around the front of the building. There were 150-200 of the 700 audience members that showed up in that line.

There was also a raffle of the poster that was in the display window at the Cascade of Summer. Summer picked the winner from the stage following the show and raised $161. All of the proceeds went tothe Shasta County Women’s Refuge.

To get the evening started, Derek O’Bannon sang 5 tunes off his soon to be released CD. O’Bannon, 20 and from Redding, has followed Schappell to Nashville, too. He worked with the same record producer that produced Summer’s CD, Ron Cornelius of Gateway Entertainment, Inc. Derek is also a product of Kids Unlimited, the prestigious song and dance program in Redding headed by Dawn Hess.

Following O’Bannon the crowd was hyped up with Wylde Side. Playing a wide variety of good ole fashion music from Brooks and Dunn to Merle Haggard to Dierks Bentley, the group from Oroville warmed the night up for the main attraction.

Summer Schappell will next be performing on July 16 at Gold Country Casino in Oroville as the opening act for American Idol contestant Bucky Covington. She also will be doing a fundraiser concert on September 19th at Shady Creek in Oroville and then up to Mt. Shasta Board and Ski Park in Mt. Shasta in late September or early October for another “A Summer Evening Featuring Summer Schappell” performance.

With years of experience under her belt, you can expect to see and hear about Summer Schappell for years to come. According to Cornelius, “In my opinion, she is a new side of the ‘Country’ format and super strong.” She showed just that last Saturday night with “A Summer Evening” at the Cascade Theatre to a large raucus crowd.

Yeehaaw!! This past week has been another successful year for Rodeo Week with lots of wonderful community events taking place. Between the Asphalt Cowboys and the Redding Rodeo Association there were activities for nine straight days.

Live Ive and Summer Schappell are proud to have participated and been a part of some of the fun. On Friday May 8 was the Asphalt Cowboys Top Hand Dinner at Riverview Golf and Country Club. It was a great evening with many distinguished guests, including California State Senator Doug LaMalfa, enjoying an exquisite dinner followed by the soothing sound of up and coming country music star, Summer Schappell, who performed songs off her recently released album.

The next night was the Redding Rodeo Association Kickoff BBQ and Dance. What an awesome job the Redding Rodeo Association does in providing delicious steak dinners for 1800 happy supporters. Summer kicked off the dance party with a few songs off her album followed by another few songs between band sets. A big kudos goes out to John Monteil, the President of the Redding Rodeo Association, and his fellow cowboys for a great night.

The promotional tour continued on Wednesday May 13th at the Asphalt Cowboys 4th Annual Chili Cookoff and Street Dance at Buckaroo Flats on the Redding Rodeo Grounds. Whether it be the Chili Cookoff, Quick Draw Contest or the Cell Phone Shootout there was plenty of action on the grounds. Summer even got in on the cell phone shootout making it all the way to the final round. She might not have won the shootout but she surely won the crowd over with her high energy country music.

The last stop for the Summer Schappell promotional tour during Rodeo Week was the legendary Asphalt Cowboys Pancake Breakfast at Roaring Gulch. With over 11,000 community members participating and over 30,000 pancakes being served this is one amazing event. After enjoying some pancakes made by our friend California State Senator Doug LaMalfa, Summer mingled with the crowd and then joined her friends, DJ Ryan James from Hank FM 99.3, and KQMS 1400 for some radio time while helping Ryan with a prized drawing.

All in all a great community week that Live Ive Enterprises, Inc. and Summer were happy to have participated in and supported.

Live Ive Enterpises, Inc. is currently promoting Summer Schappell for a 5 concert series beginning on June 27th at the Cascade Theatre in Redding, CA.

Summer, 15, born and raised in Redding, CA and who attends Enterprise High School, recently released her first CD a self titled Limited Edition Signature Album. Her performing career began in kindergarten and by the time Summer was age eight she became involved with a group called Kids Unlimited, which is an incredible song and dance organization. At the same time Summer began singing occasionally with record producer and master guitarist Ron Cornelius and the Untouchables band at Cancer Awareness Fundraisers that Summer’s grandfather would organize. This led to her album being produced by Ron’s company Gateway Entertainment, Inc. out of Nashville.

In February of this year Summer opened for Josh Turner to a sold out crowd at the Redding Convention Center - - She had a marvelous night and the ‘ Press Reviews ‘ were incredible.

Her growing national audience includes over 65,000 people who have visited her MySpace Site (www.myspace.com/summerschappell) over the last few months.
